This Antique Edwardian Suffragette long guard chain necklace has been commissioned in 18ct Yellow Gold. Along the elegant gold chain and around two and half inches apart is set a repeating pattern of Amethysts weighing approx. 0.50ct, Peridots weighing approx. 0.50ct and Pearls.
Guard chains, also known as slide chains, were popular in the Edwardian era. Well-dressed ladies often wore these chains to hold a locket, watch or fob.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White stones which were chosen to counter the masculine women’s rights stereotypes put forward by opponents. Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
A beautiful and elegant guard chain which promotes Women’s Rights and will look fabulous when worn.
We recommend you insure for £1600. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
